Nushu update
Hello everyone,
Well it has been nearly 5 months since we started work on the album-in-progress. We're getting very close to finishing it, but as luck would have it, it looks like the last bits and bobs may take the longest, as schedules prevent us from getting too much done during the month of April. Therefore, whereas we were hoping for a May 2009 release, well, it is looking more like June/July at this point. The songs are really coming together nicely, so hopefully you'll find it worth the wait. We head to the studio this weekend and if things go as planned we should have another demo to post to our website as a teaser, so to speak. We also settled on a concept for the album artwork....which we think you'll like too, but we're not going to ruin the surprise. Some of you may have received the news that one of our songs was used in a recent episode of MTV's The Real World. It is episode 10 'Pedro and Poll Dancing' and can be viewed online at: http://www.mtv.com/videos/real-world-brooklyn-ep-10-pole-dancing-and-pedro/1606384/playlist.jhtml - the instrumental version of our song 'Falkner's in Love' can be heard between 32:11 and 32:35 (and you can skip to that part!). It was pretty cool to hear it on TV and we're hoping more will follow. Also, we found a hidden stash of the 1" NUSHU buttons/pins that we thought were gone, so if you want one, send us your address to: info@nushumusic.com and tell us you want one. These are the same NUSHU Logo buttons we were giving away a few months ago. Best, Hillary and Lisa Status of the new recordWe started working on the new album in the studio (Lincoln Lounge) on October 18th. As of Saturday, January 24th, we completed 8 full days of recording. During the first seven days we completed 98% of the first batch of songs, recording-wise, as they still need to be mixed and mastered. The first batch of songs are:
Last Saturday, January 24th, we started on batch two, which consists of the following songs:
We essentially finished the drums and initial guitar track on all but two of the above, which is where we will pick up this Saturday, plus work on bass and guitar bits and bobs.
The reason we have broken the recording into two batches is simply because initially we were thinking we would only release an EP (batch one) but we have so much material that we want to record, well, we decided to bite the bullet ($$$-wise) and do a full album. We are currently planning to have it ready for release in May 2009, sooner if we can of course! Thanks for being patient with us! |
